Welcome to the Green Hill Manor Community Website.

Green Hill Manor is located in Adamstown, MD which is part of Frederick County.  Our town was originally part of what was known as “Carrollton Manor” which was the land Charles Carroll, the last living signer of the declaration of independence, called his summer home.  Our community features a variety of home styles built by Ausherman Homes and later by Drees Homes.

Here you will find information concerning; our community of home (HOA), local sports clubs and upcoming community events.

If there are any contents that you would like to add or if you have questions or comments, please see the "Contact" section of this website.

Brief history of Adamstown

Adamstown was established around 1840 when the railroad was built. The town was named for Adam Kohlenburg who was a station agent as well as a local businessman in the community.  At different points in its history, Adamstown was known as “Adamstown Junction” and “Adamsville.” In 1864 a civil war skirmish was fought here and the nearby Cooling Springs Farm was part of the Underground Railroad.  In 1885, the first school (which is now the Adamstown Grange Hall) on Adams Street was built and in 1919 the Adamstown Bank (which is now a pizza sub shop on Mountville Road) opened.  As of 1921, Adamstown had many amenities including grain elevators, a blacksmith shop, a carriage works, two garages, a general store (which is still in operation – Stup’s Market) , hardware store and the bank.  The town also features a post office, a large community park as well as a community pavilion, which is owned and rented out by the Carroll Manor Fire department for community and private events.

In 2004 the Carrollton Manor Volunteer Coalition was created with the intent on unifying the community as a whole to address local issues.  It was through the efforts of this coalition in 2006 that Eastalco donated almost 27 acres to be used for a proposed active recreation park.  The park is now in the hands of Carroll Manor Recreation Council and they are in the process of bringing the dreams of this complex into reality.  The future complex will house multipurpose fields to be used for baseball, soccer and other sports.
